Off And Running To The Nunnery

Shakespeare In Bits is off and running! Possibly to the nunnery but we don’t think that’s going to be much craic no matter what Shakespeare says.

The Rockfall Festival weekend is well underway in Kilkenny and so to is our new run of our Shakespeare battle rap. Stephen Colfer, John Doran and Eddie Murphy took to the stage last night do deliver their own take on Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet, Othello, Macbeth and many more Shakespearean works all crammed into 50-minutes or so of non-stop comedy. It’s like the English class you only wish you had for Leaving Cert… (nice amount of Leaving Cert students there too while we mention it)

Last night’s performance brought plenty of improv, plenty of comedy and bucket-loads of laughter in Cleeres Theatre, the first time we’ve performed a show in “Ireland’s biggest little venue” since Heart Shaped Vinyl in 2007.

The show continues tonight with an 8pm performance, followed by two shows tomorrow at 4pm and 8pm respectively. Tickets are available in advance from Cleeres Theatre on Parliament Street priced €8. Tickets for the matinee performance on Sunday afternoon are priced €5. (Bring the kids, introduce them to Shakespeare, they’ll love it!)
