Following on from the success of Scratcher over the last 2 weeks, we at the Devious Theatre Company are proud to return with the second part of our ‘In The Future When All’s Well’ season of plays.
Shifting is a comedy about making the first move. The bittersweet story is centred around a birthday party in the suburbs of Kilkenny City where a group of childhood friends try to have one last hurrah together before going their seperate ways into adult life. But as the night progresses, this final flirtation with their teenage years degenerates into a booze soaked mess of accusations, confessions, cake and unwanted gatecrashers.
The play is written by John Kennedy, our associate writer for the duration of our residency in No. 76 John Street. It will be directed by John Morton who previously directed Scratcher, Accidental Death Of An Anarchist, Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay! and Trainspotting for Devious Theatre.
The cast for Shifting are Alex Christle, Alan Doyle, Rhian Gibson, Adrian Kavanagh, John Kennedy, Aoibhin Murphy, Colin O’Brien, Peter O’Connor, Ruth Phelan, Connie Walsh, Jessica Walsh and Geoff Warner Clayton.
We are delighted to be welcoming them all on board the good ship Devious (or in Geoff’s case, welcome back) and are very excited about the next few weeks.
The show will run in No. 76 John Street from April 18th – 23rd. Tickets have just gone onsale at this very website and there will be a limited capacity each night.
