In honour of St Patrick’s season, Barnstorm’s Adult Drama Club will be performing an evening of Irish theatre, music and poetry in The Barn, on Thursday 25th and Saturday 27th March. The pieces, from writers such as Wilde, GB Shaw, JB Keene, Synge…and Roddy Doyle, are a quirky and convivial collection of excerpts and vignettes with the notable omission of the much maligned Peig Sayers.
Once again The Barn will be transformed into the intimate setting of a cabaret club where patrons will enjoy wine and nibbles at café style tables while enjoying some of Ireland’s finest pieces of theatre performed by some of Kilkenny’s most exuberant amateur dramatists.
Barnstorm’s Adult Drama Clubs were created to give local amateur actors with a thirst for theatre the chance to develop their skills and become part of Kilkenny’s thriving theatre scene. The clubs have enjoyed enormous success in their short histories and while Shorts gave ADC members a chance to tread the boards, many for the first time in their lives, Anything….But Peig will showcase their talents both on and off the stage. Each play is directed by another member of the group, under the guidance of Barnstorm’s Anna Galligan and Keith Raven.
Anything….But Peig an evening of Irish theatre, music and poetry will be performed in The Barn, Church Lane, Kilkenny on Thursday, March 25 and Saturday, March 27 at 8pm each night. Tickets are €8, including a glass of wine, and are available from Barnstorm on 056-7751266 or trish@barnstorm.ie
