On The Pull

pulled6 Fancy going on the pull? Tonight's the night that Pulled takes its hometown bow in Kilkenny. Niamh Moroney's play took Waterford by storm during its run in Central Arts and now it's about to kick off a three night run in Set Theatre. This will also be our final outing for 2016, bringing our Devious 10 programme to a close after 3 shows in the last 5 months (we're tired now). The buzz for Pulled has been massive and the pre sales for the show have exceeded that for Heart Shaped Vinyl and The Hellfire Squad in Kilkenny. A recent review from Waterford News and Star wrote: "Niamh Moroney and Andrea Bolger act with a naturalness and an openness that is a joy... Ita Morrissey directs this Big Brother writ small with the sureness of a participant in the soap opera of Amanda and Michelle's life..." pulled1 Niamh sat down with fellow Devious founder Ken McGuire to have a chat about Pulled on KCLR96FM on Tuesday. You can listen to it on Ken's website right here. Niamh also wrote an account of the development and making of the show which you can read on her own site right here. There's nothing left to do but make sure that you've got your tickets because they're selling fast. Three performances only in Set from tonight with kick off at 8pm. Tickets are €12 and can be bought from Rollercoaster Records on Kieran Street and online right here. Photos by Dan McMahon Photography.

Pulled

pulled-A3 And we're onto the next one. The third and final part of our Devious 10 programme is Pulled by Niamh Moroney. A comedy about two girls fightin' the fear. Who will pull through? Amanda or Michelle? Maybe they'll just pull the heads off each other... Join these two man eating club stomping wans as they battle one of the worst hangovers of their lives as they attempt to follow a trail of snapchats, texts, and selfies back to memories long lost to shots- what and who they did last night?! How did Michelle end up here, where the hell was Amanda? Or... do they even want to know?
Following Niamh's highly successful self penned & produced tour of YER WAN in 2014 & 2015, Pulled continues to explore the debacle of being a young woman on the pull in this day and age. How do young women react to a crisis when the odds are against them in pretty much every single way? Pulled marks a major new collaboration between the two South East companies, Central Arts of Waterford, and Devious Theatre of Kilkenny, and is the third production in the celebration of Devious's 10th birthday. It is also the second in house production Central Arts will present around the time they are officially celebrating their second birthday.
Pulled will be performed by Niamh Moroney and Andrea Bolger who makes her debut with us. The show is directed by Ita Morrissey who we are delighted to welcome on board for the first time. It is produced by John O'Connell of Central Arts.
Pulled premieres in Central Arts, Waterford from September 13th-17th. It follows up with a three night run in the Set Theatre, Kilkenny from September 29th-October 1st.

Devious 10: Pulled

pulled-new Two gals battle "the fear" towards clarity... kind of. The final preview of our Devious 10 programme is Pulled from Niamh Moroney which will debut in Waterford and Kilkenny this autumn. In Pulled, Amanda and Michelle battle through the fear and a digital rollercoaster of clues to assemble memories of a particularly wasted night. The show is written by Devious Theatre founding member Niamh Moroney and marks her first staged writing for us. It's also the first full length play we've produced from a female writer and we couldn't pick a better one. Niamh is one of the original founding members of Devious Theatre and has worked in many different capacities with the company over the last decade. Directing credits include Trainspotting and War Of Attrition with acting credits including Heart Shaped Vinyl, Cannibal! The Musical and Smitten. Over the last few years she has gained acclaim for her work as a writer/performer with successful shows such as the award winning Yer Wan and X+Y under her belt. Pulled has been developed by Niamh and Andrea Bolger, who will be making her debut with us in the show. It also marks our first co-production and we are delighted to be partnering with Central Arts for Pulled. Central Arts are a production house based in Waterford where Niamh recently became their first artist residence. Developed over the past (and next) few months as part of her residency, Pulled will land in their 60 capacity theatre space from September 13th-15th. It will then travel to Set Theatre in Kilkenny where it plays for September 29th-October 1st. Here's a trailer for the show, to get you in the mood for September. Get ready to pull.
